VERY SPECIAL GUESTS

Dennis of The Realistics - From Realistics songs to his own songs that sound like Jeff Buckley songs to crack-ups and falsettos - D Real (aka "D.ennis") put on the most enjoyable dude with a guitar performance this side of Evan Dando on a clear and sober day. - jenyk/dot/com

JOAN WASSER is a superfoxxx. She also writes songs, sings and plays a lot of instruments. She changed the profile of the violin in rock music and has now extended this innovative voice to singing and song-writing through her new solo project, JOAN AS POLICEWOMAN. Joan leads her trio on guitar and wurlitzer accompanied by bass and drums. She has recorded with Sheryl Crow, Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright (who she recently accompanied on Letterman), played live with Nick Cave, Soul Asylum, Sebadoh, Helium, Laurie Anderson, played for the Dalai Lama, did Lollapolooza, Montreal Jazz Fest and Conan O'Brien with her own projects. She has toured nationally and internationally with all her bands and continues to trailblaze.

Julia Vorontsova is a 21-year old singer/songwriter born in St. Petersburg Russia. She grew up listening to underground folk singers such as Bulat Okudzhava, Veronika Dolina & Yuri Vizbor. After studying violin and piano for three years at St. Petersburg State Music School she started composing her own poetry and songs while teaching herself guitar. With a singular & unique voice, Julia will be performing this evening melancholic songs of friendship & love, all sung in her native Russian. So expect post-traditional Russian "bard" moods of deep feeling informed by a more current acidfolk approach.
