The Team

Andy Baio | waxpancake
A side project turned horribly awry, I built Upcoming.org in my free time and launched it in September 2003. After its acquisition by Yahoo! in 2005, I moved to Palo Alto to lead the team as we redesigned and integrated Upcoming with the Yahoo network. In November 2007, I left Upcoming to pursue new projects. You can follow my thrilling adventures on my site, Waxy.org. I will always love Upcoming, the people that worked on it, and the community that made it so great. Thank you!

Leonard Lin | lhl
After snagging User ID 2, it became obvious Leonard was destined to toil on Upcoming, ironically discovering all the cool events that were happening, but not being able to go because he had to work on Upcoming. Since moving to the Bay Area and spending a year in Palo Alto, he's actually accepted that really was giving up, and has now moved to SF proper. In his spare time, he enjoys sleeping on the shuttle bus, watching events he's not going to, and writing profiles in the third person. Also, unlike some other Upcoming.org co-founders, Leonard can determine the color of objects using only the power of his eyes.

Gordon Luk | getluky
After performing surgery on the Upcoming codebase, Gordon enjoys relaxing with German cars, German beers, and Belgian waffles, but not at the same time. A co-founder of Upcoming, he handles a lot of the technical details behind the scenes, and also can slow the growing of small plants with intense concentration and focus.
Where I'll Be
Vince Maniago | uvince
Vince is so vain his bio wouldn't fit in this limited space, but he is the guy who tries to pull it all together for Upcoming. He also has the amazing ability to finish anyone's sentences but his own.
Neil Kandalgaonkar | flipzagging
Neil joined Upcoming.org in December 2006 to fulfill diversity requirements for a token Canadian. Since then he has been left alone to type randomly into his computer until he accidentally produces some of your most wished-for features. He's also been known for some AJAX and Flickr API hackery, but has a curiously Web 1.0 website. As a hobby, Neil travels backwards in time to prevent himself from travelling backwards in time.
Shawn Shen | shawk
I joined Upcoming.org in January 2007 to be part of real actions and fun. Originally from China, I came to USA to study physics, roamed Europe for two years, but since settled in Silicon Valley. Thanks to my travel, I'm obsessed with and have since developed a super natural ability of keeping track of all time zones around the world in my head. Voici mon BrainDump.
Kelsey Parker | iameastvillage
The first time Kelsey tried to make people get along on the Internet, she was 12. Helping Upcoming with much the same is just as fun. You may spot her telling everyone why they should join it, because she's got the curious ability to babble in her own language while still making sense.
