Community Wiki, New Server, and Tags in the API
What's new? The launch of our new
community wiki, a big server move, and the addition of tags to the API. Read on for details.
Community Help. Take a look at Upcoming.org Community Help, a central source for all information about the site. This is a wiki that anyone can contribute to by clicking "Edit" on any page, and logging in using your Upcoming.org account.
There's not much there now, but please free free to add to it. Feature requests, bug reports, neat uses of the site, frequently asked questions, and more are all encouraged. We'll be adding discussion forums too, but this will eventually be the authoritative source for all information and documentation.
New server. We moved to a much more powerful server last week, with only a few minutes of downtime. If the site seems faster than before, that's why.
API Tag Support. Support for tags was added to the API. If you're a developer, please sign up for the discussion list for announcements and other updates.
Also, for a great new use of the API, take a look at Jeremy Keith's
Adactio Elsewhere. Jeremy pulled together his information from across the web into a single website, using Ajax scripting and the APIs for Upcoming, Flickr, Amazon, and Del.icio.us. He explains his
process and motivations on his blog.
