Ta-da! Robot-filtered events for everyone!
Our dear
robot has some special news for us...

...he volunteered to help us get the best events out of the "Undiscovered Events" section of Upcoming into the main listings! You can now often find things to do in areas where Upcoming users aren't as active, and he's gone out of his way to try and prevent duplicates from showing up as well.
For now, the biggest difference is that you'll just see one event listing whenever you do a search, instead of the old Undiscovered tab. Not everything made it over - just the events that robot told us were the best (
here's an example that I like). He'll be adding more events as his robot prowess becomes stronger, but we think it's a great start towards incorporating more comprehensive listings for our users.
Robot's only been working on US-based sources of event data so far, but international events should one day be possible using robot's event factory. He's also only importing events that meet his rigorous quality guidelines, which goes a long way to ensuring that data he gets from outside sources doesn't ruin the high quality of events that sets Upcoming apart.
Oh, and one more thing - all of our users, regardless of location, can now use the new sorting options on the
streamlined search pages (also where you go when you click a category or date from the frontpage) to find the most popular or recently added events.
If you do happen to notice duplicates that robot's introduced, let us know by reporting a problem on the right side of the main event page, and he'll use that information to both fix those problems, and make future data import better.
